Formulation

Formula Management is the heart of BatchMaster – and BatchMaster supplies all the tools the formulator needs to develop new products quickly and efficiently.  BatchMaster Formulation supports unlimited intermediate levels, materials and operating instructions, and the formulator can work with weight and cost percentages on screen.

Includes powerful Formula Approval processes, including electronic signatures.

·    Full revision history, with active revision number recorded through to production.

·    Compare versions.

·    Revert to prior versions.

·    Make material substitutions easily across a whole range of formulas.

·    Supports Co-products, By-products and Waste.

·    Utilize unlimited units of measure for precise ingredient control.

Bill of Materials

Defines a finished good or end-item by combining a fill-level of a specific formula with the required packaging to make the item saleable. A production batch is raised for the formula, allowing for any number of finished goods made from that formula to be produced from that one batch.

·    BOM breakdowns through all levels can be viewed in a tree structure in BOM Explosion.

·    Add Labor and Overhead costs to separate filling costs from making costs.

Laboratory

The Laboratory module brings the speed, power, and reliability of computerized formulation to your chemists and technicians, by utilizing raw material specifications and formula physical properties defined at an Inventory level. It reduces man-hours spent on tedious, error-prone manual calculations and delivers a wealth of useful information quickly and accurately. The module is flexible enough to meet your specific needs, no matter what types of products you manufacture.  Specifications are user-definable, so BatchMaster can perform calculations exactly the way you are accustomed to using them. Alternatively, import physical property values from databases such as the USDA food database.

·    Search existing formulas for specific physical properties, weight or volume percentages or Quality Control test specifications.

·    Copy and modify formulas for rapid changes.

·    Design your formulas on-screen to meet the specifications you customers require.

Costing
The Costing module, which gives the flexibility of “What-If” cost analysis, serves the dual purpose of allowing formulators to develop or modify products to a specific market or customer cost requirement while supporting all the functions needed to assist the Cost Accountant in achieving precise control and monitoring of all cost structures.

·    Roll-up Standard and other costs while automatically generating General Ledger journals for the differences.

·    Calculate and update Selling Prices based on your own rules.

·    Analyze all components of the cost of an item down to the bottom level of intermediates.

·    Examine new combinations of Formulas and Packaging to check the viability of new products.

·    Perform “What-if” scenarios to manage cost or quantity variations to meet the market costs for your products.

Sample Management

Samples Management tracks a new product’s development from customer request to acceptance.  A new Formulation can be based on an existing formula or it can be created new, including the use of materials not yet in the inventory database.

·    Create R&D formulas separate to live manufacturing formulas.

·    Track all communications with the customer, email direct from the sample system.

·    Track material, packaging and R&D costs per sample.

·    Perform profitability calculations on formulas, and expense analysis based on expenses vs. orders and number of requests vs. planned orders.

·    Update securely to the production formulation database when approved and accepted.
