Bold Robotics

The Company: About Bold Robotics
Bold Robotics was founded in 2017 with a sole purpose: to provide top-notch automated equipment for North American greenhouses and nurseries.
The Situation: Procurement Struggles
Procurement used to be one of Bolds’ biggest struggles. It took valuable time away from engineering and management. For mid-sized projects, two full days were needed just to enter parts. They were going back and forth between SolidWorks and Excel, a process with too many excessive steps.
Bold also knew that capturing more data from each job would benefit current and future projects. Even at the end of a project, there still wasn’t enough information available to confirm a profit.
It’s a small, hard-working team at Bold; everyone, including the owners, shares double duties. Labor was too high, and too much of it was spent on chasing parts or handling change orders. There wasn’t much time to think about growing their organization or taking on more projects at once. Reducing clerical work, however, would free up the team and help them scale.
The Solution: Total ETO ERP
Total ETO takes care of many time-consuming jobs, such as ordering and tracking parts, so taking those away from the team will allow them to focus on growing their business. Full-project visibility helps to improve project completion time, and save on labor, and parts. This important information is also helping sales provide more accurate estimates.
The Results: Total ETO ERP Implementation Benefits
Less Procurement for Everyone
With most of the team ordering their own parts for a project, it took a lot of valuable time away from engineering and management. Time that would have been better spent designing additional automation solutions, for additional clients.
Now, they can do just that! All of the redundant clerical work is gone, along with the typos are transposition errors that came with it. The team also doesn’t waste time every week tracking parts. Purchasing and inventory are now a smooth ecosystem that saves Bold time and money.
Reduced Labor & Completion Times
It’s estimated that each employee saves 100 hours a year from reduced clerical work. With Total ETO taking on that work, employees can be used to their fullest potential. It also makes work more enjoyable for the team as they are now able to focus on what they love — designing and customizing solutions.
Full Visibility
Bold loves and is thriving from their new, enhanced, full-project visibility. Such real-time info can help improve project completion time, prevent mistakes, and help future similar projects. With the info collected from each job, the sales team can take estimated costs and quickly add a margin or fixed dollar price for quoting. It’s also easy to copy similar project elements from past projects using budget or actual costs.
Savings
It didn’t take long after implementation for Bold Robotics to start saving time and money. Spending on labor was greatly reduced because Total ETO does most of the time-consuming jobs for them, such as ordering and tracking parts. Money is also saved because the team doesn’t need to rely on expedited shipping anymore. Now, with their ERP, parts are ordered and tracked, keeping each project on time and within budget. They’re also able to bulk order common components. Additionally, Bold is using Total ETO to track warranties on parts, adding to their savings over the long term.
